# Flex AI

> Ask questions about your car wash in plain English and get charts, tables, and answers from your live FlexWash data in seconds.

Flex AI is the AI assistant built into FlexWash. Ask a question the way you
would ask your general manager, and Flex AI runs the right reports, charts the
results, and explains what it found.

* "Compare this week's total revenue across all my sites."
* "Which site lost the most members last month, and why?"
* "Show washes by hour of day at my busiest site as a heatmap."
* "How do I set up a family plan?"

Flex AI can load any FlexWash report and searches the
[FlexWash docs](https://docs.flexwash.com) to answer how-to questions. There is
nothing to install or connect.

## Access

Open **Flex AI** in the **Admin** section of the sidebar, or press **⌘K**
(**Ctrl+K** on Windows) and search for Flex AI.

Admins have access by default. To give another user access, turn on the
**Access Flex Ai** permission on their user or [role](/configuration/users-and-admin/roles.md).

Flex AI sees the same car washes and data as the signed-in user. It is
read-only: it can run reports, but it cannot change memberships, customers,
prices, or any other data.

## Ask a Question

Type your question in the **Ask Flex AI…** box. While Flex AI works, it shows
which report it is running. Each report it runs appears as a card you can
expand to see the inputs and results.

> Name the sites and the time period, for example "last week at the Main Street
> location". If you don't give a time period, Flex AI uses the last 3 months.

### Charts

When an answer compares or trends numbers, Flex AI draws a chart above the
table. It supports line, stacked area, bar, pie, funnel, heatmap, calendar,
and bump (ranking) charts.

On a new chat, **What Flex AI can visualize** shows an example of each chart
type. Click **Use this prompt** to start from one.

### Tables

Tables are sortable and show 10 rows at a time. Click **Show all** to see every
row. Use **Copy CSV** or **Download CSV** to take the data into Excel or
Google Sheets.

### Chat History

Flex AI saves your chats. Expand the chat list on the right to open a recent
chat, start a **New chat**, or rename or delete a chat from its **⋮** menu.
Chats are private to you and to the organization you had selected.

## Usage and Pricing

Flex AI usage is measured in tokens: the text your team sends to Flex AI plus
the answers and report data it produces.

The usage meter in the chat list shows how much of this month's allowance your
organization has used. Click **View usage details** to see usage by person.

When your organization uses all its free tokens, Flex AI asks you to subscribe.
A user with billing permissions can subscribe from the Flex AI page with the
organization's card or bank account on file. You are only charged for tokens
beyond the free tier allocation.

### Limits

Each user can send up to **10 messages per minute** and **200 messages per
day**.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | Solution |
| - | - |
| "Access Denied" when opening Flex AI | Ask an admin to turn on the **Access Flex Ai** permission for you. |
| "You have sent too many requests in a short time" | Wait the number of seconds shown, then ask again. |
| Flex AI asks you to subscribe | Your organization used this month's free tokens. Ask a user with billing permissions to subscribe, or wait for the reset on the 1st. |
